Myopia is a refractive disorder that often occurs in school-aged children and can affect accommodation function, one of which is the amplitude of accommodation (AA). A decrease in AA is known to often accompany an increase in the degree of myopia, but research on the relationship between the two in junior high school students in Jakarta is still limited. This study aims to determine the relationship between the degree of myopia and the amplitude of accommodation in students of SMPN 89 Jakarta. The study used a quantitative method with a cross-sectional analytical design. The sample consisted of students in grades VII, VIII, and IX with myopia, selected using a purposive sampling technique. The degree of myopia was examined using an autorefractometer and subjective examination using a trial lens, while the amplitude of accommodation was measured using the push-up method with the RAF Rule tool. The results showed that most students had low myopia, but 60.9% experienced accommodative insufficiency. There was a significant relationship between the degree of myopia and the amplitude of accommodation (p = 0.003), where students with moderate to high myopia fully showed accommodative insufficiency. This finding indicates that increasing the degree of myopia is directly proportional to the decrease in accommodation ability. This study showed that the degree of myopia was significantly related to the amplitude of accommodation in students at SMPN 89 Jakarta. The higher the degree of myopia, the greater the likelihood of accommodative insufficiency.
