Section Policy

Jurnal Kedokteran Meditek welcomes submissions of original research articles, case reports, and literature reviews.

  1. Original Research

Original research is a type of manuscript that presents original research results, using either a quantitative or qualitative approach. This manuscript must be written using research methods and designs that are explained in detail and systematically, so that the research process can be understood, evaluated, and used by other researchers.

The editors emphasize that original research manuscripts must have elements of novelty and clear benefits for the development of science. Therefore, each submitted research is expected to make a relevant and meaningful scientific contribution. The general structure of an original research manuscript includes an Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion, followed by a Conclusion and References.

  1. Case Report

A case report details a rare medical case or highlights a significant medical issue, supported by an in-depth review. It provides a clear chronological account of the case, followed by a discussion of the events and procedures. Patient consent for publication is required, and both authors and journals must maintain confidentiality. The standard structure of a case report includes an introduction, a case illustration, a discussion, and a conclusion.

  1. Literature Review

Editors accept systematic literature reviews that offer new insights, implications, and future research recommendations. Authors must follow PRISMA to ensure reviews are complete, transparent, and replicable.

Authors should write systematic literature reviews that are structured, transparent, and replicable. Each review must have a specific research question, a clear methodology, and a detailed literature search strategy with keywords, databases, and dates. Include study selection, data extraction, quality assessment, and data synthesis. Reviews in Jurnal Kedokteran Meditek follow Introduction, Purpose, Methods, Results, and Conclusion sections.

Peer Review Process

Jurnal Kedokteran Meditek is a national journal published by the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, UKRIDA. Every submitted article undergoes a double-blind peer review process. The final publication decision is made by the Editor-in-Chief and the editorial team based on reviewer input. To maintain scientific quality and originality, review is conducted in stages from submission to publication.

  1. Initial Screening

At the submission stage, the editors check the completeness of the documents (authorship, research ethics, and template compliance), and screen for fabrication, plagiarism, and image manipulation. The editors also assess the manuscript's suitability for focus, scope, format, and originality. Manuscripts that do not meet the criteria will be rejected or returned to the author. After passing this stage, the Editor-in-Chief appoints an Associate Editor to manage the review process.

  1. Peer Review Process

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are sent to at least two reviewers through a double-blind review process. Reviewers assess originality, clarity, scientific validity, methodology, research ethics, and contribution to medical and biomedical science. The review process takes approximately 1–3 months, depending on the availability of reviewers and the quality of the manuscript. If necessary, the Associate Editor can open a second round of reviews.

Reviewers are selected based on their expertise and academic track record, not personal relationships. Reviewers are required to maintain the confidentiality of manuscripts and adhere to review guidelines to ensure objectivity and integrity. The identities of authors and reviewers are kept confidential. Review results are available to authors through OJS, and authors can submit objections to the editors via email. The editor's decision is based on the review results. The reviewer provides a recommendation in one of the following categories: accept, minor revisions, major revisions, or reject.

  1. Revision Process

The author makes revisions based on the reviewer's feedback. The Associate Editor communicates with the author to ensure the revisions are successful and the manuscript meets the quality standards. Once the revisions are deemed adequate, the Associate Editor recommends accepting or rejecting the manuscript.

  1. Final Decision & Proofreading

The Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision based on the Associate Editor's recommendations and reviewers' input. Once accepted, manuscripts undergo proofreading before publication.

Plagiarism policy

Manuscripts must be original works, relevant to the author’s field of expertise, and not published or under consideration in any other journal. Plagiarism and self-plagiarism must be strictly avoided; a maximum similarity of 20% is allowed. All quotations, ideas, images, or data from other sources must be properly cited.

Publication Charge Policy

Jurnal Kedokteran Meditek is an open-access journal that allows all manuscripts to be freely accessed without subscription fees or access restrictions. To prevent misuse and protect authors' intellectual property rights, all articles must include a citation to the author's name in accordance with the Creative Commons License (CC BY-NC).

As a non-profit journal, Jurnal Kedokteran Meditek covers most of the operational costs of publishing, including personnel for journal management, DOI registration, copyediting, layout, and long-term archiving.

To meet these operational needs, Jurnal Kedokteran Meditek applies a Submission Charge of Rp 200,000 and an Article Processing Charge (APC) of Rp 550,000. The APC fee is only charged if the manuscript is accepted and ready to proceed to the copyediting stage.

  1. Non-Payment after Acceptance

If, upon receiving notification of manuscript acceptance, the author declines to pay the required fees and chooses not to proceed with publication, the manuscript will not be published in Jurnal Kedokteran Meditek, and the author may be subject to sanctions, including being prohibited from submitting the same manuscript to the journal in the future.

  1. Refund Policy

Jurnal Kedokteran Meditek does not refund any transferred fees, including submission charges and APC, under any circumstances. Authors should therefore note the following situations where no refund will be provided:

  1. Article retraction: When an article is withdrawn after publication due to issues such as data or analysis errors, plagiarism, data manipulation, research ethics violations, authorship discrepancies, or other integrity concerns.
  2. Article removal: When an article is withdrawn because of copyright infringement, inaccurate information, confidential data, unauthorized disclosure, or other ethical violations.
