Abstract

Prevalensi prehipertensi dan obesitas di Indonesia pada kelompok usia remaja dan dewasa muda semakin meningkat. Prehipertensi dan obesitas menyebabkan gangguan pada blood brain barrier dan menurunkan integritas white matter di otak yang berperan penting pada fungsi kognitif. Di Indonesia penelitian tentang fungsi kognitif pada subjek usia muda khususnya pada mahasiswa kedokteran dengan prehipertensi dan obesitas belum pernah dilakukan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membandingkan fungsi kognitif mahasiswa kedokteran prehipertensi dan obesitas dengan mahasiswa kedokteran normotensi dan normoweight. Penelitian menggunakan desain case-control dan teknik purposive sampling. Subjek terdiri dari 13 subjek obesitas dan prehipertensi (kelompok kasus) dan 39 subjek normotensi dan normoweight (kelompok kontrol). Subjek penelitian adalah mahasiswa fakultas kedokteran yang memenuhi kriteria penelitian. Berat badan dan tinggi badan diukur menggunakan timbangan yang telah dikalibrasi, tekanan darah diukur menggunakan tensimeter digital, dan fungsi kognitif diukur menggunakan kuesioner Digit Symbol Substitution Test. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan median skor fungsi kognitif kelompok prehipertensi dan obesitas 35 (21 - 38) dan kelompok normotensi dan normoweight 48 (29 - 66). Hasil uji Mann-Whitney didapatkan perbedaan skor fungsi kognitif yang signifikan antar kelompok tersebut (p < 0,0001). Dapat disimpulkan subjek prehipertensi dan obesitas memiliki skor fungsi kognitif lebih rendah dibandingkan dengan subjek normotensi dan normoweight.
